Simplicity and Versatility
- Zurich Cementless includes a wide range of sizes for THR for toy to giant breed dogs, but also a unique solution for high luxation risk patients (Dual Mobility), a partial hip replacement system (Cupless), and revision cups for the THR systems.
- A wide range of medullary canal dimensions can be covered by a minimal set of stems.
- Modular system to combine different sizes of stems, necks, heads, and cups to comfort your patient anatomical needs perfectly.
Cementless & Immediate Fixation of All Components
- Locking screw technology eliminates micromotion of the femoral component.
- The stem is affixed to the medial cortex only, preventing the stress-shielding of the proximal femur and allowing the implant to grow with the femoral bone structure.
- A hydroxyapatite surface modification of the stem and cup promotes rapid bone integration.
Resistance to wear
- Resistance to wear is achieved by optimal material selection and proprietary design. The ceramic head and CFR-PEEK cup pairing are proven to reduce wear particles and therefore decrease the risk for revision.
6th generation Zurich Cementless THR
- KYON is the first company offering ceramic heads for veterinary THR. Advanced ceramic heads are made of Zirconia Toughened Alumina, a material extensively used in human orthopedics and known for its extreme hardness, toughness, and biocompatibility
- Titanium and titanium alloy for supreme biocompatibility and reduced risk of infection
- Proprietary, wear-reducing geometry for the PEEK and CFR-PEEK inlay
- Porous titanium and hydroxyapatite coating for rapid integration
- Cementless – Immediate fixation of the implant through advanced locking screw technology reduces the risk of aseptic loosening associated with cemented implants
Stable Fixation of the Cup
- Double titanium shell, the outer one perforated and plasma coated with titanium and hydroxyapatite promotes rapid bone ingrowth.
- Geometrical features of the outer shell and calibrated reaming of the acetabulum allow for a reliable press-fit to provide stability during bony ingrowth.
- Outer shells are highly compliant, preventing the stress-shielding of the cancellous bone bed yet providing for the stable anchorage of the inner shells and the composite PEEK inlays.
- Freedom to orient the cup position according to the natural acetabulum.
Safe
- Titanium alloy used for the stems, cups, and screws is highly biocompatible to reduce the risk of infection and thus implant loosening.
- VERILOX® advanced ceramic heads are made of Zirconia Toughened Alumina, a material extensively used in human orthopedics and known for its extreme hardness, toughness, and biocompatibility.
Mini THR
The Mini THR System includes all Zurich Cementless THR parts which are compatible with stem sizes 3mm – 6mm. It allows the treatment of cats and toy/mini breed dogs with bodyweight ranging from 2kg-15kg.
The technology for the mini THR system is identical to the standard sizes:
- Immediate fixation is achieved through locking screw technology
- Resistance to wear is achieved by optimal material selection and proprietary design.
- Modular system to combine different sizes of stems, necks, heads, and cups to fit your patient perfectly.
Due to the size of these implants, we recommend this procedure primarily to advanced THR surgeons. To learn more about prerequisites visit the THR education pathway and program.
Dual Mobility Cup
Extra safety for high luxation risk patient with the Dual Mobility cup.
- For dogs at a high risk of post-surgical luxation, the Dual Mobility cup and head articulation provide yet another option for minimizing postoperative complications.
- Approximately 1 out of 6 patients are at high luxation risk, typically large dogs.
- Ceramic 19 mm head preassembled inside the 25 mm PEEK articulating head
- 2 Cup sizes available: 29mm and 32mm. Both available as pressfit or revision (fixation with screw) style.
- Excellent Clinical Performance (Publication)
Important: The Zurich Cementless Dual Mobility Cup is a special solution intended only for high luxation risk patients. Therefore, it needs to be used with great caution, especially in younger patients, as the wear is typically higher than the one of a standard Zurich Cementless THR.
